The Western Rite in the Orthodox Church

Saint Benedict Russian Orthodox Church is a bi-ritual parish: that means that the services of the parish are offered both in the universal Byzantine Rite according to the Typicon of the Russian Orthodox Church - but also according to the Western Rite as authorized by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow in 1872. At that time the Western Rite Divine Liturgy of Saint Gregory the Dialogist (the pre-Schism Latin Mass) was re-instituted for use among Western peoples. At this time, due to a reorganization of the Western Rite within the Russian Church, there are no regularly-scheduled Western Rite services in the parish.
